I have kept a diary for years now. I've gone through phases where I thought it was the coolest thing possible and also phases when I thought it was the most loserly thing.
In the last year I've been more intent on documenting what is the end of my childhood and the beginning of adulthood.
I get great pleasure from reading passages I wrote when I was 10, explaining the tough life of a girl of that age.
I hope that I'll be able to read what I write today, in years to come, and laugh (and cringe).
To girls (and boys, I suppose), of my age, diary writing doesn't seem to be very popular. It is the age of the internet and social media and not much an individual does can change that.
But how long will this age last? 20 years? 10? 5?
Imagine having to look up an encyclopedia for something you could easily Google.
Or having to wait a day for news to printed in the next days papers. Imagine, even worse, having to pay for it!
Part of me longs for an internet-free world, but without it I don't suppose you'd be reading this right now.
And that is why I am asking for a diary for Christmas. I only have a couple of pages left in my current one. I found some really cute notebooks in Paperchase. So if you're looking for one, you should try there.
If you don't already keep one, perhaps it could be a new-years-resolution.
I'm sorry about the break I took from blogging. My exams ended on Friday and the Christmas holidays have begun so I'll have plenty of time for blogging!
