L'Oreal True Match Foundation Review

Hello!

If you've been reading this blog for any length of time, you'll know that I face a constant struggle to find a foundation that matches my skintone. When I find a foundation that accurately matches me, I hold on to it, no matter what the quality is like. Recently, I've started to demand more from my foundation and I will no longer settle for mediocre when it comes to my base makeup.

This thought makes me immediately look to the high end foundations on the market but at the moment, I'm cutting down on my expenditure (so I can pop the big bucks in America - one of my brother's favourite sayings). This leaves me with only one option - drugstore foundation.

Drugstore foundations haven't served me very well in the past (mainly because they make me look like an oompa loompa that wandered off set) but desperate times call for desperate measures. I had run out of all foundations that match my skin so I needed something and I needed it fast.

I decided to go back to the L'Oreal True Match foundation as I know it matches my skin tone pretty well. In the past, I hated the formulation of this foundation but I recently heard that they had reformulated it and now everyone's head over heels in love with it.

L'Oreal True Match has a huge range of shades (21 in total) so there's bound to be one for you, unless you're paler than milk like me.

Firstly, I love the new packaging - it's much sleeker and much more convenient as it is a lot easier to store. Before, the awkward shape made it bulky to fit into any storage container as it was a very irregular shape. Now it is more rectangular (or should I say, cuboid) and fits in perfectly to my foundation drawer.

The shade I wear is 1R-1C. It used to be R1-C1 which I much preferred, but that's irrelevant. 1R-1C is the lightest shade in the range but is slightly too dark for my skin tone. The slight difference between my skin tone and the foundation tone irks me, but then again, beggars can't be choosers.

This foundation applies easily and I use a Real Techniques Expert Face Sponge. Upon application it sits very well on the skin. It makes your skin look flawless but still look like skin! The consistency is very watery - probably the most watery I own.

It gives a medium coverage and looks gorgeous on the skin. It gives a very naturally flawless effect which I adore!

I was disappointed at how long the foundation lasted on my skin. It wore away throughout the day and was looking a bit grubby by evening time. I can't entirely blame the foundation though, as on the day that I was testing this foundation out, I was also testing a new powder (a bit of a slip on my part, I know).

I've heard a broad spectrum of reviews - some love it, others detest it. I, personally really like it which is just as well because I'm stuck with it until I go to America and buy one there ( I have a very long list of things to get).

Live Love London Review | Pale and Interesting

Hello!

I got home today to find a huge package from Live Love London. You can imagine the delight I felt when I found it after a long week in school - a great start to the weekend!

Live Love London is an English brand. If you live in the UK, you can buy it in BCS but if not, you can buy it online. Their packaging is quite reminiscent of the Makeup Revolution and is very eye-catching. The packaging is primarily black with a reflective rainbow font. Their products are very affordable and it seems they have something for everyone.

Baked Highlighter
I was first sent the Highlighter. This is absolutely gorgeous! It can easily be built up to be opaque which gives a beautiful otherworldly effect. It is very eye-catching and applies very easily. If you would prefer a more subtle look you can apply it with a lighter hand and dust some of your powder on top. This highlight is yellow toned but seems to have flecks of each colour of the rainbow.

Matte Bronzer Powder
I next found the Matte Bronzer Powder. Before trying it I was quite dubious as I feared it would make my skin look orange. I was wrong and I absolutely love it. It has earned a place in my daily makeup routine. It warms up my skin without making it look orange. As I have pale skin this is often a worry but this product delighted me.
The product is buttery and can be applie very easily. It is buildable and even in coverage so it doesn't look patchy on the skin. Depending on what look you're going for, you can modify the application by applying it lightly or heavily.

They sent me two lipsticks, "Matte Pink Day" and "Intense Peach Date". Blank is a matte Barbie pink shade. Although it isn't usually categorized as my favourite shade, I was eager to try them out as Summer is right around the corner and these are very suitable shades for the season.
This, however, was the major downfall of the package. I am very sad to say that the quality of these lipsticks was not at the standard that the other products warranted.
The shades looked gorgeous in the bullet but as soon as I applied them to my lips I was very disappointed. "Intense Peach" was relatively pigmented but made the the condition of my lips look atrocious! The other shade, Matte Pink Day, simply did not show up on my lips. It was so faint that it barely even showed up in swatches.
Possibly, the worst part of all was the scent. I hate to sound too negative but it was quite possibly the most repulsive scent that I have gotten from a lipstick. I was slightly disconcerted as you ingest most of the lipstick you apply to your lips so I didn't want to be eating anything that smelled like that!
Having said these things about the lipsticks, I do want to reiterate the fact that I enjoyed all the other products immensely. I just wish to say that the lipsticks are not worth your money.

#sorrynotsorry

Love Your Eyes Eyeshadow Palette
The final thing Live Love London sent me was the Love Your Eyes Eyeshadow Palette. I love the packaging as it is very sleek and pulchritudinous. It is lightweight and compact but not flimsy - perfect for travelling. Each of the shades are highly pigmented. The selection of colours is beautiful. There is a vast collection of alternative shades that wouldn't usually stand out as being my go-to shades. When I got this palette, I was prompted to use the more adventurous shades and I will admit that I absolutely loved some of them!

The eyeshadows were creamy and buttery. Some were slightly difficult to apply and/or blend but for the most part, the standard was very high. I had so much fun playing around with daring looks that this palette has to offer!

In general, I was impressed by the products I received from Live Love London with the exception of the lipsticks. I was sorry that the quality of the lipsticks didn't reach the level set by the other products but all-in-all, I was very impressed. Some of the products in this post have managed to worm their way into my daily makeup routine. If you have tried Live Love London in the past, let me know what you thought of the products.

If you have any suggestions for blog posts you would like to see in the future let me now also!

Thanks for reading,

My Favourite Snapchatters | Pale and Interesting

Hello!

In recent weeks I've noticed that "My Favourite Snapchatters" post is becoming increasingly popular on the blogs I read. In the past couple of weeks I've started using Snapchat a lot more and as a result I have a list of my favourite Snapchatters.

Today I've decided to stick to the Irish Snapchatters. If I showed my favourites from all around the world I'd be here for days.  If you wish to follow me on Snapchat you can find me at @paleninterestin .

Jane - @janeinglot
As an Inglot addict, I love to see what's happening behind the scenes. Jane brings us around the country to various store locations and Inglot events. Jane also gives fitness updates and at the moment she's moving house! Jane seems really lovely and I hope that one day she'll be in my nearest Inglot at the same time as me so I can say hello.

Anouska -
Anouska is the embodiment of happiness on her Snaps. She's always full of life and her Story makes me smile whenever I watch. She's travelling in America at the moment and her Snaps are magical.

Erika - Retro Flame
Coachella season has come and gone and Erika was one of the few fortunate enough to go. I loved watching her snaps at Coachella. She looked so stylish each day and I got some serious outfit inspiration. She seems so sweet and is absolutely gorgeous!

James Kavanagh - @jameskava
Two words - v gorge!
James is hilarious and I can't watch his Story without bursting out laughing! At the end of the day I love to take a few minutes to watch it and have a good laugh.

Tara - @tarmar
I've loved Tara's YouTube for a long time but only recently did I discover her Snapchat. Her whole life seems to be one big photo-op. Also, I love her hair! She was part of the reason I got mine cut short!

I hope you enjoyed this post!
Let me know your favourite Snapchatters so that I can add them! Also, leave your Snapchats down below so I can add you too!

Talk to you soon!

40 Beauty Questions Tag | Pale and Interesting

Hello!

Recently, I have noticed a fair few bloggers doing this tag. I loved the questions and was eager to try it out for myself. Here is my response to the 40 Beauty Questions Tag!

I have dry skin that is prone to getting very dry if I don't take care of it.

What is your current facial wash?
Neutrogena Grapefruit Wash

Do you exfoliate?
I try to but only manage to remember about once every two weeks. If I overdo it, my skin gets so dry!

What brand do you use?
I alternate between a few. I love the Merumaya Exfoliating Toner, St Barts Exfoliater and the Clean and Clear Exfoliater.

What moisturiser do you use?
The Yu-Be Moisturizing Skin Cream is an absolute godsend! I love it!

Yes, but I can sometimes get a little lazy.

What brand of mascara do you use?
I don't just use one but my favourites are from Benefit, Soap and Glory and YSL.

Sephora or Mac?
I'm Irish and have never been in a Sephora (that'll hopefully change when I go to America) so I have to say MAC.

Do you have a MAC Pro-Card?
No, but I'd love one.

What make-up tools do you use in make-up application?
For me, Real Techniques always take the cake.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
I love the Urban Decay Primer Potion.

For the face?
I'm currently putting the Stila Colour Correcting Primer on trial (so far, I love it!).

Um ewww?

I don't know of any.

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
I'd love to do a course in makeup at some stage!

I've gotten better at it!

Do you like colourful shades of make-up (lipstick, eye shadow) or neutral tones?
I love to play with colourful looks but I generally stick to neutral looks when I'm in public.

Which celebrity always has great make-up?
Any of the Kardashians and Jenners - especially Kylie

If you could leave the house with just ONE Make-up item, what would you use?
Foundation - my main issue is widespread discolouration.

Could you ever leave the house without any make-up on?
Makeup isn't allowed in my school so I'm used to it by now!

Do you think you look good even without any make-up on?
Yes! I'm confident in my own skin and it really doesn't matter if I think I look good - I have more important things to be worrying about!

In your opinion, what is the BEST make-up line?
MAC or Stila.

What do you think of Make-up?
Makeup is a way I like to express myself and it is so much fun! I love it!
