Essence Sheer & Shine Lipstick Review

Essence, while still a relatively new brand to me, has been standing out as one of my favourites recently. There's something about spending so little that makes me happy inside.

Essence are constantly coming out with new lines and it's impossible not to try out a few things here and there.

This month, they brought out a line of lipsticks. They supposed to be sheer and moisturising. There are 13 in total and they cost €2.49 each.

I picked up the shades Frosted and BFF.

Frosted is a very pale pink. It is extremely shimmery. This wouldn't usually be my cup of tea but something about it really appealed to me when I was buying them.

I do like it but I don't think it's a colour I'd reach for very often. I worried about it washing me out but it is so sheer that that isn't a problem.

BFF is a really pretty coral-watermelon colour. I can't  decide whether it is a watermelon or a coral colour because each time I see it I change my mind.

I wish that this shade had come out in the summer because it is a perfect summer shade for people who are a little less daring when it comes to lip colours.

These aren't very long lasting but they are moisturising. If you top it up every few hours you should be good to go.

One note about Frosted is to  make sure you fill you whole lip area especially the edge of them because if you don't it looks really weird.

I'd recommend these as a day-to-day line. These are all wearable shades and I love them.

Let me know if you liked this post and if you've tried these.

Product of the Week: MAC Pro Longwear Paintpot, Painterly

Does anyone remember that time I did a "Product of the Week" post and said I'd do one every couple of weeks? Ha. That was seven months ago.

I have decided to try it again and this week I will talk about the MAC Pro Longwear Paintpots. In particular one called Painterly.  I bought this a couple of months ago and it is the best thing in my life at the moment.

These are quite pricy and cost €21. I believe that these are worth every cent.  I hear that Maybelline have a similar product for a fraction of the price but I haven't tried them so I can't tell you how they compare.

If you would like a comparison of the two please leave a message saying so because I'd love to do one.

Painterly is a shade very similar to my own skin tone so it matches almost perfectly. It's not meant to stand out but to make other things not stand out.

This is a crucial part of my daily makeup routine. I use it to prime my eye and to cancel out those prominent purple-blue veins.

It makes the eyelid tacky, if you understand me and eyeshadow applies brilliantly. It also means that eyeshadow stays on much longer and is more opaque. I have rubbishy  eyeshadow that seem to be transformed when this is put under it

If you put on too much it will probably crease so keep it to one thin layer.

If I ever run out of this (and I doubt I will) I will repurchase it in double time.
I also want to try out one of the more adventurous colours.

Daytime Look With Royally Rouge

Today I'm going to do a daytime look including makeup, hair and outfit.
This is a collab with the wonderful Frances from Royally Rouge
who is doing a matching night time look. I can't wait to read her post which you can see if you click here.

Let's start with makeup!

My make-up routine changes on a regular basis.
It never stays the same for more than a week. I discover new products and rediscover old favourites.

Today I will be sharing my current most frequently used products!

Foundation, Concealer, Powder:

Recently I have enjoyed the Rimmel Wake Me Up foundation in the shade Porcelain. Finally- a foundation that matches me!
I buff one pump of it into my face using the Real Techniques Buffing Brush.
This foundation makes your face glow like a diamond... in a good way! It's a very thick consistency and quite high-coverage.

Rimmel's Match Perfection concealer is my favourite concealer for under my eyes.
I simply use my ring finger to blend it in.

For the last week or so, I've been using the Essence Mattifying Compact Powder.
I apply it with a Real Techniques Expert Face Brush.
I have yet to develop an opinion on this product as it is still new to me but so far I like it.

I use the Barry M Chisel Cheeks Contour Kit to contour my cheekbones.
I use the Primark Beautiful Bronze Glow Stick Highlighter. It is so good considering the price.
I use the Sleek blush in the shade Flushed.

Eyes, Lashes, Eyebrows

I take a flat eyeshadow brush and apply the pinky beige colour on the In the Mood palette by W7 to my whole eyelid.
I use the taupe colour in the W7 In the Mood pallette through my crease and on the eyelid for a pulchritudinous yet simple look.
I use the Domed Shadow Brush by Real Techniques.

Benefit Roller Lash is my current go-to mascara. It curls and lifts my lashes.
My Essence Eyebrow Designer is used on a daily basis to give the impression of nice eyebrows...

I used the Burt's Bees tinted lip balm in the shade Red Dahlia. This is really hydrating and adds a sheer was of colour to the lips.

Now to outfit!

Shorts: Hollister
Shirt: Brandy Melville
Cardigan: Forever 21
Tights: unknown
Choker: DIY ;)
Bracelets: River Island
Boots: Timberland

For hair, I just tied the top section of my hair back. Really simple!

Be sure to check out Frances's blog here

I hope you enjoyed this post!
Have a nice day!
