How to Be A Morning Person | In The Know | Pale and Interesting

Mornings are usually dreaded for the primary reason that you have to drag yourself from the warmth of your cosy bed. It can be hard to see why anyone would actually like mornings! I certainly never liked them until I developed this routine.

Here are my top tips to become a morning person!

Don't go on your phone before sleeping
It has been scientifically proven that going on your phone or laptop before you go to sleep will take you longer to fall asleep and the quality of your sleep is worse. When you see the bright artificial light from your phone, your brain is tricked into thinking that it is in fact sunlight and that it's daytime. If you switch off your phone an hour or two before you téigh a chodladh you will sleep much better.

Set Multiple Alarms
One of my favourite tricks for waking up easily in the morning is to set a couple of alarms an hour before I have to get up. This way I trick myself into thinking I am getting a lie-in when in fact I'm just getting up at the normal time. It also means that I have a light sleep between the first alarm and the second alarm so it is easier to wake up.

Have Something To Look Forward To
Without an incentive, it can be impossible to get out of bed. In the morning, the only thing that drags me out of my bed is the promise of a cup of tea. It motivates me to get of the bed and get on with the day. If a cup of tea wont get you out of your bed you could use the motivation of a cup of coffee or a YouTube video.

Organise The Night Before
If you prepare everything the night before you'll have much less to do in the morning. I like to set out my outfit the night before so that there's no hassle in the morning. I also like to make a list in a notebook of things I need to do so that I don't forget anything the next morning.

Place You Alarm Across The Room
It can be easy to press Snooze of your alarm without really waking up. A more effective way of using your alarm is to place it on the opposite side of your room to your bed. This means that to cease the alarm's ringing you'll have to walk across the room. This means you'll be less likely to fall back asleep.

My Favourite Highend Lipsticks | MAC, Urban Decay | Pale and Interesting

At the moment I'm on my midterm and all there is to do is sleep and blog. It's only 10:00 and I'm already on my third post of the day! I think I'll have to increase my number of blogposts a week!

I love drugstore makeup, don't get me wrong, but there's something so special to me about indulging in a highend product. When you put the excitement beforehand of getting the product together with the service you get in the shop and the happy buzz you get, it's just brilliant. Maybe it's just me, though.

In case you hadn't already gathered, today I want to show you my favourite highend lipsticks. My collection of still quite small but it's growing and favourites stand out to me immediately.

This lipstick is all I need in my life. I love brown nude shades and this one is the perfect one for me. I got it when I was in London so it's like a little memento of the trip. The formula is so moisturising and is not dry at all. It is super pigmented and suits so many skin tones. The formula is creamy and has a shiny finish.

I wear this so regularly that I would repurchase it if I ran out. It worth the money without a doubt.

My only problem with this product is that it is very soft and tends to lean if you're not careful. I also found that, unlike many lipsticks, if you twist the lid around while it is on, the lipstick winds up into the lid and smushes into the lid. I found this out the hard way.

MAC always take the bacon when it comes to lipsticks. The quality is amazing and has so many good features.

When I bought Russian Red I was doubtful that I would wear it enough but I proved myself wrong. I wore this to last Wezz and it stayed on all through the night without having to be reapplied. Everyone was asking "What is that lipstick, it hasn't budged all night".

I cannot stress enough how longwearing this lipstick is. The colour is a gorgeous bright red. The blue undertone makes your teeth look really white!
This is my perfect red lipstick and from what I've heard, it suits all skin tones. I would recommend exfoliating and priming your lips before you apply this lipstick because it can attract attention to dry parts of your lips.

have yet to suss out why this  lipstick is called Brave because nothing about it suggests anything daring that requires courage.

Regardless of that, it is a beautiful pinky nude that has been in my makeup bag for a long time now. This is my perfect daytime lipstick and will compliment a simple look or a stronger look. The quality (while not quite as longlasting as Russian Red) is much the same as the other MAC lipstick I discussed.

What's your favourite lipstick?

Monthly Catch Up | Exciting Travel News and Blog's 2nd Birthday

Last month I wrote a quick update of what was happening with me. Since then, a lot has happened and I think it's time for me to update you again. I've decided that a monthly or bimonthly update post (probably bimonthly) might me a good idea. In a sense, this is like a monthly diary entry and in the future I'll be able to see what was happening at any given time.

Let me know if you like this idea!

Anyway, here is some news from my past month that I wanted to share with you.

This marks my fifth week without wifi and I'm surprised at how well I'm coping. The first week was definitely the hardest but I've adapted so that I can function without wifi. Thankfully, I have wifi down the road from me so I head over there to catch up every week (more like every second day).

I apologise for the less frequent posts but I'll try to keep posting consistently every Friday. I'm also considering posting every Tuesday also.
I have some very very exciting news regarding travel...

I'm going to New York!!! We're going to New York, Washington DC and then we'll be visiting family for the remainder of the trip. I've never been to America but I have always wanted to go. I've decided to vlog New York and Washington but it would probably be really awkward to vlog with my family.

I will have to split it up into a couple of videos but I doubt I would daily vlog. We'll see what happens!

It's five months away but I've already made my NY playlist and I'm currently listening to Empire State of Mind. It's never too early to start getting hyped!
If you've been to New York or Washington leave me a comment telling me where I should go!

I'd also like to take this opportunity to thank you all four reading my blog. I feel like it has grown so much in the last few months. Although the wifi-less situation is a bit of a set back, in proud of how far my blog has come!

My blogs second birthday is approaching and I'm thinking of doing a little giveaway. Let me know if there's anything you would like included in the giveaway. I have yet to decide the rules and regulations but all will be revealed closer to the date!

I'm enjoying the midterm and writing multiple posts every day while I have the chance!

I know this was a pretty brief post but I wanted to throw it in. I have another post going up on Friday as usual. Think of this a little bonus post!

What's In My Makeup Bag? | Collab w. Royally Rouge | Pale and Interesting

If you are reading this, it means that I have managed to find an internet connection (most likely from the shopping centre down the road). I'm pre-writing as many posts as possible so that I don't neglect this blog too much. Sorry if I'm MIA for a while!

I wasn't able to take pictures for this post as my makeup bag was left in my friend's house and I have yet to get it back. This is my worst nightmare!

This blogpost is a collab with the fabulous, wonderful, lovely Frances from Royally Rouge. I consider her one of my best friends online and offline and I strongly urge you to check out her blog. I am so glad to be doing a second collab with her.

Today, I will be showing you what I keep in my makeup bag. This is the bag that I would pack if I were to go away on a holiday and these are the products I wear on a daily basis.

My current favourite primer is one from L'Oreal. It is the Mattifying Finish primer. I only need a tiny amount of the to cover my face and I find that it makes my foundation last all day. It creates a barrier between my skin and all the makeup I put on my face.

For the last few weeks, I've been loving the L'Oreal Stay Fresh foundation. It is quite longlasting and matches my skin tone perfectly. It barely oxidises and is perfect for dry skin.

A old favourite of mine is the MAC Pro Longwear Concealer. I use it under my eyes to cover those pesky circles. It lasts all day and doesn't crease. Although it's a bit pricey, I believe it's worth every cent and I'll be repurchasing it when I finish the bottle.

There's a new powder in my makeup bag. I finally caved and bought the Natural Collection powder that Zoe O'Connor has been raving about for ages. I say I "caved" but it only cost about €2. This mattifies my face makeup perfectly and when I have this on, my makeup doesn't budge all day.

Again, an ancient favourite of mine is the NYX Blush in the shade Taupe. This cool toned powder contours my face perfectly and I use it every single day. It's very buildable and looks very natural on cool toned people like me.

I recently rediscovered the amazing blushes from Natural Collection. Again, they're as cheap as chips but they work as well as any blush I own. I love the shade Peach Melba. If you haven't tried them, I advise you to invest a couple of Euro in these little beauties.

I have yet to find my perfect powder highlighter but until then I'll just use the heck out of my Benefit High Beam highlighter. This gives the most gorgeous glow to the skin and you only need a tiny amount of it. It's very blendable and if you are on the fence about buying this product, try the mini first!

I've spoken about this little gem before and I have no doubt that I will speak about it again. I absolutely adore the W7 In The Buff palette. These pigmented eyeshadows can be used together to create my perfect, everyday eye look that requires very little effort but still looks fab!

My go-to mascara is undoubtedly the Benefit Rollerlash mascara. I use it day-in, day-out and I would recommend it to everyone! It doesn't take the place of my lash curler but it does a really good job of accentuating my lashes.

Recently, I have been in adoration of dark nudes. I don't know why but they really seem to suit me. At the moment I use Urban Decay's lipstick in the shade Liar or NYX's 917 on a daily basis. They are both hydrating and super pigmented.

I hope you enjoyed the post! Go over to Royally Rouge to read Frances' post.

Thanks for reading!

W7 Review | Pale and Interesting

Yesterday, I returned home to two surprises. One was my school report and the other was an unexpected package from W7!  As you can imagine, I was delighted and it took every ounce of self restraint not to try everything out before I took pictures (#bloggerstruggles).

W7 was one of the first brands I tried and lived when I started wearing makeup. Since then I have discovered so many gems from the brand and I'm excited to share them with you.

The products featured in this post were sent to me by the brand W7 but, as always, all opinions are my own and are not influenced by the fact that the post is sponsored.

Today I've decided to review the pieces that were sent to me.

This lipstick (in the shade Candy) is the most shimmery  lipstick I own. When I first saw it I was doubtful, but as soon as I tried it on I realised how gorgeous it is. It definitely isn't for the fainthearted and is quite a statement but it looks gorgeous in pictures. It is highly moisturising and quite long lasting.

Twist and Shape Brow Wax
They sent me the shade Blonde and I'm so glad that they did because any darker would have been too dark. This is so easy to use and it makes fulling in your brows a piece of cake! On one end is the brow wax and on the other is a spoolie. I have noticed that products like this are becoming increasingly popular. This gives a beautiful brow that lasts all day! I wasn't able to find a link for this for some reason but I will add it in ASAP.

This mascara is a very useful one. It's perfect for day-to-day use and looks very natural. The brush is huge! It's a plastic wand that coats the lashes evenly. It holds the curl (given by an eyelash curler) quite well.

I've saved my favourite product for last! As a cool toned gal with a very pale complexion, I generally keep my distance from warm toned bronzers. That's why I was slightly disappointed when I saw the  Honalulu Bronze at the bottom of my box. But, since they had been so kind to send it, I decided to give it a go. Boy, am I glad I did!  This warms my complexion up and gives a bronze glow to my skin! A must-have for summer!

I know this has been a rambly enough post but I thought I'd let you know about my Snapchat. On Snapchat, I do little unboxings of parcels like this one. I also post regular updates.

If you're interested in following my Snapchat my name is paleninterestin

Debating and Public Speaking | Pale and Interesting

I'm posting this a day ahead of schedule because I plan to upload another post during the week. I'm sorry about the mix up of schedule!

Anyone who knows me or has read this blog for a while will know that I love debating. I've started debating when I was in primary school and I instantly fell in love with it.

I've made so many friends from debating and I share so many memories with these people. One of the other major benefits of debating is that it teaches you valuable life skills. I've benefited from debating so much and I believe that everyone should get a chance to try it out.

Here are my top tips for a successful debating career (or at least a more enjoyable experience).

Summarise on Cue Cards
In preparation for a debate I write out a relatively detailed speech. After familiarising myself with each point, I summarise the speech on cue cards in keywords. This means that when I am in the debate I can't rely on my page word for word. The keywords serve as prompts in case I lose my train of thought.

Make Eye Contact
It may be difficult but it is very effective if you make eye contact with the adjudicator. It shows the adjudicator that you are confidant and know your stuff. I always like to go the extra mile and give the opponents my death stare. This throws the opposition off a bit and makes them a little nervous (that makes me sound horrible but, it's always in good spirit).

Use a Power Table
In my school, the "Power Table" is very popular. It's just an ordinary desk but during a speech we can choose to use it to lay out our notes or to lean on. If you do shake when nervous you can lean your hands on the Power Table and disguise the fact that you are shaking like a leaf.

Tell Yourself You're Badass
This one might not make any sense but right before I step up to the podium I tell myself that I'm the world's greatest badass. I don't know why but this really boosts my confidence and I take on a whole new personality. If you do not believe me, please try this out and you'll find it works sooo well!

Thanks for reading and I hope you learnt something new from this post!
